Folded, paper ceramics from Raw Edges

Raw Edges has taken on the challenge of reproducing the malleable and light nature of folded paper using an unexpected material such as ceramic. Italian manufacturer Mutina has hence introduced the Folded collection for tiling.

The Israeli studio formed by Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay was originally inspired by traditional ceramic motifs of the fifties and sixties used in apartment buildings in Tel Aviv. The result is a collection of tiles focused on the contrast between frailness and durability.

Available in a 60×60 cm format, there are three different models that differ in the intensity of the folded planes. Made of white clay, they can be used as tiles or as flooring.

Prototype production process.
