Maison & Objet 2011, the next habitat design event

Paris Nord Villepinte will be housing the Maison & Objet furniture design international fair from the 21st to the 25th of January. This edition is marked by the naming of the Bouroullec brothers, architect Edouard François and interior designers Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier as Créateurs 2011 hence enhancing the dynamism and international influence of current French design.

The renowned duo constituted by brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec is currently part of the industrial design elite. Having developed their first designs for Cappellini, they know work for names such as Vitra, Magis, Alessi, Issey Miyake, Axor and Kvadrat. As a crucial part of the development of their output, they have also been doing research work for the Kreo gallery.

Edouard François is known for his multidisciplinary approach and for his specific focus on green sustainable architecture and has subsequently been appointed member of the RIBA for his contribution in this field. François’s projects attempt to represent the continuous reinvention of answers to problems with respect to specific needs and the corresponding surrounding environment.

Designers Patrick Gilles & Dorothée Boissier have been working as a team for over eight years. Amongst their projects, it is worth mentioning the interior designs for restaurants in Paris, the Mini Palais and the Grand Palais, and New York, the Gramercy Park Hotel.
 

Capitaine, Rémi Perret, Le BuroZéro.

Paola Navone has designed the scenography for the recently inaugurated Hall 7 in Nord Villepinte that will house the Talents à la Carte exhibition with work from Aurore Thibout, Rémi Perret (Le BuroZéro), Pascale Freydier, Guillaume Delvigne, Lucie Bourreau and USIN-e. The same gallery will also show the Scènes d’intérieur exhibit where internationally renowned decorating practices take part.

In hall number 8, Now! design à vivre displays a set of projects focused on the idea of rethinking designs to adapt to current issues where solidarity, ecology and recycling have a lead role. The gallery also includes a retrospective on 40 years of the work of Japanese designer Toshiyuki Kita and several new publishers such as Skitsch, RS Barcelona and Minimalux.

A total of 3150 international stands will be present at the fair, as well as the specialized areas: Éditeurs, Projets, Outdoor Indoor and Musées.
